In 2022, the Chinese Mint will commemorate a significant milestone in its Chinese Panda Series. This date is the 40th anniversary of the first coins in this series being produced. The Gold Pandas were introduced in 1982, with four different denominations available. The silver coin was released later, but it will include an anniversary mark on its obverse field to commemorate this anniversary.
The silver pandas that we have for sale are in excellent condition. They are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition and come in individual plastic capsules. Multiples are held in trays of 30 coins or Monster Boxes of 510 coins.
In 1982, The Chinese Mint launched its national bullion coins. There were only two other types of gold bullion coins available in the market at that time: the South African Krugerrand and Canadian Maple Leaf. The Chinese Mint has been releasing coins with new designs of the Giant Panda every year, except for 2002 when they used the same design as the previous year. The Silver Panda was first released in 1983 as a proof coin, and then in 1989, it was released as a BU coin.
The reverse design of 2022 30 Gram Chinese Silver Panda Coins shows two pandas sliding down a snow-covered hill. One panda is seen going headfirst down the hill with its front legs out as it slides on its stomach in this visual. The other panda is seen from behind, with both front and rear legs in the air. The digits 40 are inscribed on this side, with a panda in the 0.
